Diesel engine wont rev past 2000 rpm

It had a hole worn through (the little hose size of a pencil in diameter). Anyway, installed a new hose and same symptoms. Replaced the fuel pump, the injectors, the spark plugs, the sparks plugs cables (all four). I replaced the piston rings, the cylinder head but the engine will not rev past 2500 rpm's. Engine sounds fine and up to 2000 rpm it is great - then at 2000 rpm it just cuts out - just like a rev limiter. Driving is now limited to about 35 mph - when it hits 2000 rpm it dies back to idle and you have to lift off before it catches again. Do you remember what the issue was. A good way to check if yours is clogging: do a WOT run to include going past 3000 rpm. say 2500-3500 rpm. Duty cycle in Group 11 is normally in the 30-35% range at WOT and 3000 rpm. Mazda RX8 inside fuse panel on left side door frame has a 20 amp fuse that if blown during battery hookup or install or disconnection will blow. This 20 amp fuse is tied to the fuel throttle system and will not allow motor to rev up past the 2500-2800 rpm. When clear fuel flows from the screw, tighten it and move on to the next. For the pre-filter and lift pump, fuel should flow from the tank by gravity, driving the air out. Jul 27, 2009 · The engine purrs idling. However, if I drive it down the road, The lack of power is obvious and 2000 to 2100 is the max's on rpm's. To me, it sounds like it is starving for air and at 2000 rpm's I get a moderate amount of white smoke. HPOP gear torque at 95 ft.lbs. I have not checked the impeller on the turbo yet to make sure it is turning free. TPS testing is standard on most fuel injected cars. You can remove the connector, turn on the key and check the wires for 5vDC and good ground, turn off key, remember which wire is which. The filter looked pretty good, had just a hair of trash in it. All the lines had diesel flowing out of them like crazy, none seemed restricted. No need to fill it up with diesel first, I would just install it dry then pull the bleeder screw and pump it till diesel comes out, then close it off and you are good to go. This way the diesel gets filtered as it goes through as well. Ran the truck for two days great, then while cruising about 65mph the rpms shot up then went back down to normal. A few miles down the road the truck lost power like it was out of fuel and died. Let it cool off then restart, and it idles great, no worries. Dec 13, 2012 · SOURCE: 200 Pontiac Grand Am over 3500 RPM loss of power on almost all gm cars after 96 the engines were governed to not free rev over 4000rpm. when in gear and power braking the rpms stay lower cause of the load on engine. when reving above 3500 rpms the computer cuts back the timing and fuel to reduce engine damage if left to free rev. hop that helps. We fitted new valve and now it starts on the button. Once running we noticed that the turbo was noisy and it would not rev above 3000 rpm after a physical check (turbine stiff ... The time to change a MAF is not longer than 30 min. The cost of a MAF is anywhere from $140 to $200. The MAF base is held onto by two screws. Once removed, disconnect the top connector to the MAF and install a new one. To remove the top connector you will need a special tool to remove the two screws. It wouldn't go over 2000rpm. A lot of those kinds of things can be tested with a mult-meter if you want to be sure. Driving is now limited to about 35 mph - when it hits 2000 rpm it dies back to idle and you have to lift off before it catches again. Did it the other day and then the next day it ran fine - started again today. Ran the truck for two days great, then while cruising about 65mph the rpms shot up then went back down to normal. A few miles down the road the truck lost power like it was out of fuel and died. I unhooked all the fuel lines and drained about 2 gallons of diesel out and changed the fuel filter. The filter looked pretty good, had just a hair of trash in it. All the lines had diesel flowing out of them like crazy, none seemed restricted. Answer (1 of 10): You haven't given much information such as Make, Model, current situation, so I will attempt a best guess. If your vehicle won't go over 2K RPM (assuming it did prior to the issue), then your motor is most likely in limp mode. Dec 13, 2012 · SOURCE: 200 Pontiac Grand Am over 3500 RPM loss of power on almost all gm cars after 96 the engines were governed to not free rev over 4000rpm. when in gear and power braking the rpms stay lower cause of the load on engine. when reving above 3500 rpms the computer cuts back the timing and fuel to reduce engine damage if left to free rev. hop that helps. Replaced the fuel pump, the injectors, the spark plugs, the sparks plugs cables (all four). I replaced the piston rings, the cylinder head but the engine will not rev past 2500 rpm's. The cost of a MAF is anywhere from $140 to $200. The MAF base is held onto by two screws. Once removed, disconnect the top connector to the MAF and install a new one. This happens in every gear including neutral.A crankshaft sensor A Charge pressure sensor (inlet manifold) A Injection pump shaft sensor Not easy top identify what is at fault, would suggest that you check out all the air/vacuum side of the intake for loose/split/damaged pipes. Make sure the air filter is clean. The crankshaft sensor by looking at it, if unsure change it (its not expensive).Mar 22, 2013 · I also changed the hose from the ECU to the pipe on the driver's side of the engine. It had a hole worn through (the little hose size of a pencil in diameter). Anyway, installed a new hose and same symptoms. In neutral I rev the engine and it won't go over 2000 rpm and my engine light is on. I got the car scanned for free at Part Source. TPS testing is standard on most fuel injected cars. You can remove the connector, turn on the key and check the wires for 5vDC and good ground, turn off key, remember which wire is which.
